Xbox 360 RROD Towel Trick - Damaging Your Xbox 360 Further
63Why You Shouldn't Try This At Home
So its a typical night in and your playing your favourite game on your beloved 360, then all of a sudden things take a turn for the worst. The screen goes blank your and wondering what the hell is going on then you realise, every 360 owners worst nightmare. You look down at your 360 and you have got the dreaded red rings of death. when the shock is over that its actually happened to you the first thing you start doing is look online for ways to solve this problem quickly. You come across what seems like a full proof method, people all over the web are saying it works and how great it is.
This method is called the towel trick, where basically you wrap your xbox 360 in a towel for a couple minutes. This is supposed to reset your xbox by remelting the solder that has been broken by lack of cooling which causes the RROD in the first place. Now this does work however its not a permanent fix oh no. It may seem great at first but after a couple of hours most likely you will have the RROD again and have to repeat the process which isnt a good idea.
What you are essentially doing is adding more heat to a problem which is caused by the xbox putting out too much heat for the cooling system to handle, dosent sound very smart does it? The more times you do this to your xbox the weaker your xbox internal components become and eventually it will get to the point where it is beyond repair, then your in an even worst position than you were to start with. My advice would be to check that your warranty is still valid and get it repaired by microsoft or get a guide on how to fix it properly.
